When Charizard fails you'll just try to overpower your opponents with Groudon. There's no finesse; no strategy. A square peg even when faced with a round hole."

Greyson shrugs, looking at the avatar across from him with a mixture of pity, and an air of irrelevance.

"Underestimate me if you want, Matias, but make sure you keep the excuses to yourself when I hand you your ass."

From his hand a flash of light reveals a rotund Goodra, and at the swirl of her fingers, RAIN FALLS.

onix's long, heavy tail drags across the ground, littering the field with STEALTH ROCK, one of which hovers over its head, keeping it dry from the rain.

in his previous challenges, his choice in pokemon has always revealed his lack of interest and care. he underestimated his opponents as he usually does and each time it has always come back to bite him. the presence of the onix should be telling of what he truly feels about Greyson Connors.

the man, despite all their flaws, is a capable trainer. matias knows as much.

MUDDY WATER washes towards them but it's the POWER WHIP that is the real threat. it attempts to constrict and immobilize onix, activating its WEAK ARMOR, but the rock-type proves evasive enough, using the cover of STEALTH ROCKS to its advantage as it slithers away.

gurgling, onix spits out a GYRO BALL that rolls towards goodra. meanwhile, it charges up another attack.

the only way to contend with such direct attacks is to avoid them entirely, or at least attempt to, which is what the onix does as it burrows into the ground, sinking partly into the earth. ACID COVERED tail whips at it but it avoids being struck fully. still, its WEAK ARMOR sizzles, bringing it closer to fainting.
